Apply the epoxy to the crack in the glass using a putty knife. Press the epoxy over and into the crack with a putty knife. Loose or missing compound lets wind and rain leak in around the glass. Work the adhesive back and forth across the crack gently.

Window panes may also be held in place without the use of putty. Replacing a broken pane in a modern insulated window is a task for a qualified glass repair technician. This putty often lasts decades but over the years it becomes rock hard cracks and even falls off the window. Replacing the glass in an older single pane window is a project that may be within the capabilities of an experienced do it yourselfer but it s a complex job that requires removing the old putty and glazier s points removing the broken.
